We had just moved from Germany to California when we quickly fell in love with the state’s incredible diversity – its wildlife, coastline, and unmistakable vibe. Inspired to capture that spirit, we began illustrating a series of postcards that would memorialize California’s unique character in hand-drawn form.
Each of the designs featured an iconic element, from shells and animals to the relaxed energy of the Golden State itself, all printed on rustic brown kraft paper for a natural, earthy feel. Launched online and at local craft fairs, the postcards soon found a fanbase of California lovers who shared them across the world. What started as a creative way to celebrate our new home grew into a small but meaningful way for people to stay connected, especially during the pandemic, turning simple postcards into lasting tokens of place and togetherness.
